I have had the distinct pleasure of getting to know Ben while I was the Principal of Pennbrook Middle School, and he was a student, and have marveled at how he has blossomed into a true advocate for Autism Awareness, positive thinking, following your dreams, and most importantly, the power of kindness, in the ensuing years. Several years after Ben moved on from Pennbrook, he returned to present in April-Autism Awareness Month-and he was AWESOME! Ben's passion for the topic, ability to share personal experiences, sense of humor, and the sincerity of his message, made a huge impact on our middle school students. At the conclusion of Ben's presentation, many of our students came up to speak with Ben, get their picture taken with him, and shake his hand. Ben's impact that day on our kids was remarkable. I remember saying to a colleague that Ben was absolutely a natural in public speaking, and frankly, and that he has found his calling. I can't think of a better person to have speak to raise awareness of Autism, and more specifically, how to follow your dreams, than Ben Hartranft Jim Galante Supervisor, Pupil Services North Penn School District.

Ben did a beautiful job captivating over 150 students in grades 4-6. Ben shared his personal journey and spoke with the children about always having hope and making dreams come true. After the hour long inspirational presentation, Ben met with students from our younger grades in their individual classrooms. He made a lasting impact and we are forever thankful for his visit! I don’t think there are adequate words to describe how I feel about Ben. This school year was without a doubt THE most challenging in my 31 years of teaching. After meeting Ben and watching in awe as he shared his “Benergy” with our entire school district- I finally went home feeling happy and rejuvenated for the first time since the Pandemic started. Ben is amazing…you cannot be near him and not be drawn to him. Ben’s pure love and joy is contagious- everyone needs a dose of “Benergy”! From the moment I connected with Ben, I was almost brought to tears. Not only does Ben have an inspiring journey to share, he also has a spirit that instantly reaches out to everyone he meets and pulls them into an energy that is filled with love and possibility. Ben's openness to embracing other people and not setting limits on himself is absolutely contagious! I invited him to come to my elementary school for Career Day. From the moment he walked through our school doors until the moment he left, even walking through the parking lot...he was bringing genuine smiles to everyone he came into contact with. Afterwards, I heard stories from students, parents, and teachers about how much he inspired everyone. Ben is a true example of what can happen when you believe in yourself and are willing to take risks to overcome your greatest challenges. School Counselor at Seylar Elementary School.
